Instagram replies

ShowPull helps artists find out which cities want a live show. Instagram replies is an optional tool for artists: when a fan comments a city under the artist's post (for example “Lyon”), ShowPull sends that fan one private message with the link to that city's list on ShowPull. The fan decides whether to tap it and join with their email.

How it works

1. The artist signs in to ShowPull, opens their Dashboard and taps Connect Instagram.
2. Instagram asks the artist to log in and approve access for ShowPull. Only Instagram professional (Business or Creator) accounts can connect.
3. A fan comments a city under one of the artist's posts, or sends the artist a message naming a city.
4. ShowPull reads that comment or message, finds the city among the artist's open shows, and sends the fan one private reply from the artist's account with a short link.
5. The fan taps the link, sees that city's list on the artist's ShowPull page and can join it with their email ($0 today).
6. The artist sees, on their Dashboard, how many comments were answered, how many fans tapped and how many joined.

What ShowPull uses from Instagram

• Profile basics (instagram_business_basic): the connected account's ID and username, to show “@username” on the artist's Dashboard and to know which artist a comment belongs to.
• Comments (instagram_business_manage_comments): new comments on the artist's own posts, to find a city name and send the one private reply Instagram allows per comment. If the artist turns it on, ShowPull also answers the comment publicly with “Check your DMs”.
• Messages (instagram_business_manage_messages): messages fans send the artist, to answer a fan who names a city, within Instagram's 24-hour window. Ordinary messages are left for the artist: ShowPull only answers a message that names a city, or one from a fan it has already sent a city link to.

ShowPull never publishes posts or stories, never likes, deletes or hides comments, never messages people who haven't written to the artist first, and never sends a fan more than one reply per city in 24 hours. Fans who comment an emoji or a question get no reply.

What we store

We do not store the text of comments or messages, fans' Instagram usernames or fans' Instagram IDs. We keep a keyed one-way code of the fan's ID (so nobody is messaged twice), when we answered, whether the link was opened, and, if the fan joins with their email, that they joined. The artist's Instagram access token is stored encrypted. We don't sell this data, use it for ads or share it with anyone. Details are in our Privacy notice.

Turning it off and deleting data

• Artists: tap Pause replies on the Dashboard to stop answering, or Disconnect to delete the stored access token at once. You can also remove ShowPull in Instagram → Settings → Apps and websites.
• Fans and artists: to delete your records, follow Delete your data or email showpull@lordcherrymusic.com. We delete them within 30 days.
